Pound Cake Dessert

Wow!! This Pound Cake and Berry Campfire Skillet Dessert is the easiest dessert and everyone will love it. Anyone can make this whether camping, having a sleep-over, or simply wanting something different. My favorite thing about this is the ease of it all. You will want to try this for yourself. Both kids and adults will love this yummy dessert. My favorite thing is using a few ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 12–16 oz fresh berries (any will work)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3/4 lb pound cake (frozen is easy)
  • 2 Rolo candy bars

Instructions

  • Combine the berries and the sugar in a bowl and let sit until the juices start to release, 10-15 minutes.
  • Place a grate over hot coals (or you can use a grill). Add the butter to a 12” cast iron skillet and allow to melt. Cut the pound cake into 1” cubes. Add to the hot skillet and cook, turning often, until all sides are toasted. Remove the skillet from the heat.
  • Sprinkle the berries over the top of the cake cubes, then sprinkle the Rolos over the top. Cover the skillet with foil and allow to sit until the berries are warm and the chocolate is melting, 5-10 minutes.

Pound Cake Dessert with a twist

I am a fan of every ingredient of this dish! Whoever was brave enough to create this is a genius!! Obviously, the mix of pound cake, butter, fresh fruit and Rolos is a TOTAL HIT!! Typically, we have the same desserts over and over. This particular dish is a pleasant surprise – Rolos are the “cherry on top” that make this a new favorite for my family. This dessert goes really well with one of my Favorite wines: the ANTONIOU CABERNET SAUVIGNON. You can learn more about it here.
